‘Genuinely wicked’

I don’t think I need add much to what John Smeaton has written on the truly frightening Mary Warnock and her latest declaration that doctors who refuse to assist the terminally ill in taking their lives are ‘genuinely wicked’. Please read it and think and pray long and hard about the forces that are pushing our society in a very definite direction in this regard.

When one has to discuss these sorts of things with someone who has not thought it through, or has the hard-case story that for them defines the issue, or is simply too wishy washy to take a definite stand anywhere on it, that is one thing.

But one also comes across views like those of Mary Warnock, resolutely held and determinedly promoted, and the meaning of 1 Peter 5:8-9a jumps into very sharp relief:
‘Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith’. (RSV)
