Disposition rather than detail II

A few days ago, I suggested that some were, in advance of the publication of Anglicanorum coetibus, peremptorily determined to discern reasons why it couldn’t work, suggesting also that we should not fixate on unknown detail but be positively disposed towards allowing it to work, to seeing the good in this proposal from the Pope of Christian Unity.

The detail, now known, is a good deal bolder and obviously committed to ecumenism by action than continued endless ecumania by talking shop than could have previously been expected.

But I find myself making the same observation again. The Bitter Pill seems this week (also here) as always determined to frustrate the good before it’s even gotten out of the starting blocks. False prophets … by their fruits shall you know them.

It hasn't taken the Revision Committee long to realise that with the unprecedented generosity of 'Anglicanorum Coetibus' t.here is no mileage in trying to keep both traditional Anglo-Catholics and Liberals in one fold when the Anglo-Catholics can now join what Newman called 'the one true fold of the Redeemer' whilst retaining an ecclesial identity
